Nutrition for ADHD

I enjoyed this presentation suggested by the professor of my complementary and alternative medicine class.

The presentation, titled “Is Your Child’s Brain Starving?,” is about how diet can contribute to ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Dr. Michael R. Lyon, MD, spoke at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta.

Dr. Lyon – “As the director of a medical & research centre, I have explored a variety of potential treatments to improve brain function in children and adults, without the use of drugs like Ritalin. Although I believe there is promise in certain herbal medicines and in non-drug treatments such as biofeedback, I have seen the most profound improvements in learning and behavior through an intelligently applied nutritional program.”

Enjoy this fascinating lecture.

A&P – One Tough Class

anatomy_600

I’m taking Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) as a condensed class this summer. Usually the quarter is 10 weeks but this one is packed into 7.5 weeks. It’s a special A&P class, just for Dietitian students.

So far it has proven to be very intense with a lot of memorization. I didn’t know the body had so many parts with names for everything. I am finding it interesting, though, but don’t like that there are no assignment, just quizes and tests. Ugh. Well back to reading about skin, bones, muscles and more, oh my!
